March 2020, a month where I needed to fulfill my life and feel alive.

It all started when I told my friend that I want to attempt to Everest on my bike -- climb the equivalent height of the 8886-meter mountain in a single ride! She asked me "When?", without any thoughts. "tomorrow", read my little blue text message. That was it.
Everesting is a concept well-known to those who ride bikes obsessively - And I don't think its needed to mention that those riders have a touch of madness...
Here in Jebel Jais, UAE is where my challenge started --JJ is part of the Hajar mountains. 25km towering at 1300m above sea level, JJ boasts breathtaking vistas. The plan is to climb the 25km of 1300m elevation 7 times+...
I started at 4pm, I expected to ride through the dark so I won't be affected too much by the heat. It was a nice weather in March but still temperature are reaching 30+degrees during the day.
Happy to reach the top after more than an hour of climbing...The fear of the descend is here, its 25km down...its endless!
and I start another one....Fast forward 12hrs44 later -192 kilometers - 5000m of elevation I have decided to stop. Pain in my lower back, bruises on my butt, I was tired.... I found all the good excuses to stop the journey here. I gave up!
No regrets, This is what I wanted: an intensity of experience, the edge when you arrive at when you bring your body to the brink of what its capable of.
The "why?" is clear to me now: to combine pain and freedom with tender intensity.
I will be back, that's for sure!
